Once dubbed as the ‘Fleetwood Mac of choirs’, Leeds Contemporary Singers are a musical collective made up of some of the most talented and up and coming artists in the UK today. By bringing together an eclectic range of voices and musical styles the group creates a sound that is unique to them, providing a fresh take on contemporary choral singing.
In July 2017 the group were crowned as the winners of BBC One’s primetime talent Show ‘Pitch Battle’, having competed against thirty of the best vocal groups in the UK and shared the stage with a plethora of amazing celebrity talent, including number one selling artist Will Young, who was the groups celebrity mentor. In October of last year the group reunited with Will as the guests of honor at the Cabaret after show party at the Howard Assembly Room at Leeds Grand Theatre.
Since completing the show the group have thrown themselves into a variety of exciting projects, and in particular, have enjoyed collaborating with their fellow Pitch Battle contestants. In October 2017, they joined fellow 'runners-up' 'ScotSoul' for an exclusive showcase at MIPCOM in Cannes. One month later they joined The ACM Gospel Choir and 'Songbird Sessions' to perform with Mica Paris for 'Children In Need Rocks' at Wembley Arena. Shortly after this, the group had the honor of performing at the Leeds Lights Switch on at Victoria Gardens, completing a stellar line-up that included Strictly Come Dancing's Tommy Blaize and Britain's Got Talent Winners, 'Boogie Storm'.
Despite being from all over the UK, Leeds still holds a special place in the singer's hearts. In November and December 2017 the group put on a series of intimate shows in West Yorkshire, culminating in a sell-out show in their home city.
Moving into 2018, Leeds Contemporary Singers show no signs of stopping, aspiring to take their unique brand of artistry and choral harmony to even more people across the UK.
